\tab This book is mostly the biography of Percy Harrison Fawcett, a British explorer of the early 1900's. Fawcett explored the Amazon Rainforest, and is one of the most famous explorers of the region. The book is also partly an autobiography of David Grann, and his search for Fawcett. \par
\par
Among Fawcett's accomplishments, none are terribly grand. Fawcett refined the border of Brazil and Bolivia, found the source of the Rio Verde, and was even a spy in Morocco. But looking at Fawcett's whole resume, he was perhaps more committed to his job than anyone else.\par
\par
\tab He faced the dark jungles of the Amazon, the trenches of the western front, and the island of Ceylon (Sri Lanka). Fawcett had the skills to be the most famous explorer of all time, but was denied the chance by just one obstacle: money. The title comes from Fawcett's final three expeditions, in which he searched for the magical city of Z.\par

\tab\ul The Lost City of Z\ulnone includes every important moment, every expedition, and every up and down of Fawcett's life. David Grann did an amazing job traveling around the earth looking for Fawcett information, and organized it as well as possible. The result is a story I would read again.\par

\tab I loved this book, because I feel like I know more about not only Fawcett, but World War I, the Amazon Rainforest, Great Britain, and other explorers of the time period. I also like books in which the action starts at the beginning, instead of at the very end.\par
\par
\tab I reccommend this book to people that like adventure novels, and to those who aren't afraid to reread whole chapters to gain a better understanding. This book is great, and reading it will whisk you away to the Amazon Rainforest, and out of the troubles of daily life.\fs20\par
